Macabre Music

music

I have a craving to hear macabre music. Things along the lines of Camille Saint-SaësDanse Macabre. I know I have Hector Berlioz’s Symphony Fantastique and the version of Night on Bare Mountain that appeared in Fantasia.

What music would you recommend in this vein?

I don't know if it's in the same vein, but ... The soundtrack for the movie "Ravenous", a film about cannibalism in the civil war, is definitely pretty macabre. The soundtrack was composed by Damon Albarn & Michael Nyman. It starts off in such a fashion that you're like, "What the hell is this", but morphs into something ... unique. :) (And maybe it's just the movie itself that lends it well to the music, not sure)

First suggestion: create a station seeded by those 3 in pandora.com.

Possible additional seeds:

And not classical T Bone Burnett - tooth of crime (amazon)

Doesn't mean it doesn't also have a creepy soundtrack.

I like Bleeding Heart by Two Ton Boa: http://www.sweetslyrics.com/509329.Two%20Ton%20Boa%20-%20Bleeding%20Heart.html

The lyrics don't give you the full affect of the song - maybe you can find it on U-Tube or something...

I also like the song Sweetness by Luminous Flux - but it may be impossible to find outside of me maybe making you a copy of it. I like their whole album but it was the only one they made I think - a local Seattle band who parted ways. I just finally found out the lead singer's name is Susan Dumett and is currently working under the name Vox Vespertinus (found on My Space). She has an amazing voice!
