Last weekend [info]hollyqueen and I attended the Special Needs Adoption Coalition (SNAC) classes that are required for all adoptive parents in Oregon. It was an intensive weekend because they packed an 8-week class into one weekend. The class was filled with quite a mix of prospective parents. We had a single woman wanting to adopt a girl; a mother and daughter adopting her great-grandaughter; quite a few parents wanting to add more children to their family; and some, like us, a couple who wanted to have their first child. I found the classes very informative. I'm not certain I'm totally prepared to be an adoptive parent I know a lot more of the issues and where to find the information I need to know. After all they gave us a nice fat book to read.
